The entire conquest of the Americas by waves of European invaders and the creation of two continents of settler states was largely motivated by a passionate search for gold. Spain seems to have had the most interest in gold butchering millions in a terroristic effort to have the hapless victims tell the "Christians" where the gold was.
The history of the United States and its colonial predecessors, the 13 English colonies, emphasized gold less since there seems to have been relatively little of it on the East coast. Yet gold rushes played a significant
role in the conquest and European settlement of parts West of the colonies. Of course the hundreds of thousands of gold prospectors usually found a little gold, and a few got rich. Of course the gold prospector often ran into "fools gold" a bright shiny ore that looks like it could be something valuable but it isn't. That is the way our insurance companies are int he health care system. They are parasitic middlemen who shine themselves up and tell us they are the real thing. Only a fool
can believe that these professional health care deniers have anything with really delivering health care.
Obama too may be more of a fool's progressive than the real thing. A progressive has to stand up to special interests, not pretend they don't even exist and basically allowing those parasitic interests to dictate the health care system of the United States so that is serves insurers and investors rather than the optimal health of the patient and the health of the nation.
